PaleoGIS Sponsors LoCrA for a Third Year

Lower Cretaceous basin studies in the Arctic consortium logo

We are pleased to announce that Rothwell is entering its third year as a primary software sponsor of the Lower Cretaceous basin studies in the Arctic consortium (LoCrA). According to its website:

LoCrA is a consortium managed by the University of Stavanger and the University Centre in Svalbard [both in Norway] in cooperation with other universities [including The University of Texas at Austin Institute for Geophysics] to improve the knowledge of the basin configuration and fill of the Lower Cretaceous basins in the high Arctic in order to predict coarse-grained siliciclastic wedges as plays.

Meet Us at the AAPG 2015 Annual Convention & Exhibition

The consortium has 21 industry and government sponsors. Several consortium collaborators will present research at the American Association of Petroleum Geologists (AAPG) 2015 Annual Convention & Exhibition (ACE) in Denver, June 1–4, including:

  • Tuesday, June 2: Afternoon Oral Sessions Reservoir Architecture of Deep Marine Rift Climax Deposits: An Outcrop Study From East Greenland, Presented by Sten-Andreas Grundvåg – Theme 4: From Chaos to Order: Reducing Reservoir Architecture Uncertainty in Deepwater Systems
  • Wednesday, June 3: Morning Oral Sessions Formation of the Gulf of Mexico Salt Basin, Presented by Ian Norton – Theme 5: Tectonic Evolution of Passive Margins

If you plan to be in Denver for the AAPG 2015 Annual Convention & Exhibition, please let us know! We welcome the opportunity to meet up or invite you to our offices.

PALEOMAP Project’s First Annual Sponsors Meeting: Plate Tectonics, Paleogeography and Paleoclimatology

Rothwell is pleased to share with you information about a special upcoming event: Plate model vendor-partner PALEOMAP Project will host its first PALEOMAP Sponsors Meeting on May 16, 2015, in Chicago, Illinois. According to PALEOMAP Project Director Chris Scotese, this meeting will become an annual event.

PALEOMAP Project is a recognized authority in providing important maps and data that illustrate the plate tectonic development of ocean basins and continents, as well as the changing distribution of land and sea during the past 1100 million years. In addition to supplying a global plate tectonics model for use with PaleoGIS and a set of paleogeographic maps for use with Rothwell’s PaleoClimate™ software program, PALEOMAP Project offers an independent set of plate tectonic, paleogeographic and paleoclimatic maps as ArcGIS shapefiles and MXDs.

PALEOMAP Project, Christopher R. Scotese graphicFor more information about either the PALEOMAP Sponsors Meeting or PALEOMAP Project research, please contact Dr. Scotese, at cscotese@gmail.com. Members of the Rothwell team will attend the May meeting in Chicago, where we’ll offer demonstrations of and share insights about our Paleo products. We hope to see you there!
