Reliance Industries Selects PaleoGIS

We are pleased to announce that Reliance Industries Limited is the newest user of The Rothwell Group’s plate tectonics reconstruction software, PaleoGIS.
Fortune 500 company Reliance Industries selects PaleoGIS software application or app, an extension for ESRI ArcGIS

Reliance Industries Limited’s parent company, Reliance Group, “is India’s largest private sector enterprise, with businesses in the energy and materials value chain. Group’s annual revenues are in excess of US$ 66 billion. The flagship company, Reliance Industries Limited, is a Fortune Global 500 company and is the largest private sector company in India.”

“The Group’s activities span exploration and production of oil and gas, petroleum refining and marketing, petrochemicals (polyester, fibre intermediates, plastics and chemicals), textiles, retail, infotel and special economic zones.” (See About Us at RIL.com)

The Rothwell Group is a software engineering and process optimization company. Our solutions are designed for organizations that rely on complex geoscience, geospatial, decision support and operational processes to fuel business performance. We collaborate with our customers to transform these critical workflows into intuitive solutions that drive efficiency, manage costs and increase productivity.

For the petrochemical and mineral industries, the company has developed PaleoGIS, plate tectonics reconstruction software, and PaleoClimate™, quick-cycle climate modeling software. These are screening tools that enable geologists and GIS professionals to predict high potential analogues with lower risk and cost, as well as understand basin and play formation with greater accuracy. The products are installed at the majority of the largest and fastest growing, global oil and gas and mineral exploration companies.

Don’t forget to mark your calendar and make plans to be in Houston on Wednesday, November 5, 2014 for Rothwell’s 4th Annual PaleoGIS and PaleoClimate™ User Conference and Plate Tectonics Reconstruction Workshop. Watch for registration information in the coming weeks.

Welcome to the PaleoGIS Community Blog

Welcome!
PaleoGIS word cloud

Rothwell is committed to publishing relevant information from the plate tectonics and paleoclimate research and exploration communities. Visit this page frequently to view the latest posts from leaders in these areas.

We invite you to comment on the posts and encourage your blog contributions as well. An ideal blog contribution would be between 250–500 words and could be:

  • The sharing of publicly available research or news with some editorial comment.
  • A summary of new personal research.

Each contribution should include a link to the research or news, plus an image or animation if appropriate.

We greatly value your contributions and look forward to sharing your insights.

Cheers!

Rothwell enhances raster reconstruction with the latest release of PaleoGIS, introduces batch processing with PaleoRun

PaleoGIS sample raster reconstruction image

Rothwell, the leading provider of plate tectonic reconstruction modeling for the petrochemical and mineral industries, introduced PaleoGIS 4.2 and PaleoRun 1.0 at it’s recent annual Users Conference in Houston.

PaleoGIS 4.2 was designed to address the growing demand for leveraging raster images within the exploration screening workflow. The release incorporates a new raster reconstruction algorithm that significantly improves raster reconstruction reliability, consistency and performance. In addition, this version includes the ability to un-reconstruct rasters and supports rasters with datums other than WGS84.

Frequently, Geoscientists and GIS professionals need to run a large number of reconstructions, animations or climate simulations. Or, kick-off an extended analysis. This often occurs when their plate model vendor releases new data. Updating a library of reconstructions can be very time consuming. Now, with PaleoRun, users can execute batch runs that include either PaleoGIS, PaleoClimate or both jobs. Jobs can be scheduled for regular intervals or overnight or over the weekend if they are long running.

Rothwell’s Paleo products provide a robust suite of first pass plate tectonic screening tools that enable exploration geologists and GIS professionals to dynamically visualize, characterize, and understand basin and play development.

Both PaleoGIS 4.2 and PaleoRun 1.0 are immediately available.
